The Sun Moon Relationships - The formation of the moon

Learning Goals

- I know the relative motions of the earth and moon to each other
- I know the relative motions of the earth and moon to the sun
- I can explain why we have seasons
- I can explain the significance of the following latitude lines:
the equator                           0     degrees
the tropic of cancer               23.5 degrees North
the tropic of capricorn       23.5  degrees South
the arctic circle                  66.5  degrees North
the antarctic circle             66.5  degrees South
- I know general properties of the moon
- I Know 3 theories that explain the formation of the moon

Lesson 
- Students to complete chapter 28 outline questions
- Explain the relative motions of the earth, sun and moon.
- Show the film clip on the motions of the earth and sun. (SEASONS)  LINK

I understand that the moon mission in the 1960's allowed scientific advancements and knowledge advancements about new frontiers.
I understand that the moon mission in the 1960's took place in a competitive environment.
I understand that a future mission  to Mars will include cooperative environment.
